Richardson to serve as Vice Chair of House Health Care Committee
Representative Dennis Richardson (R-Central Point) has been appointed Vice Chair of the House Health Care Committee and Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Health Care Access for the 2007-2009 Legislative Session. Additionally he has been named as a member of the Consumer Protection Committee.
“My appointment to the House Health Care Committee will enable me to continue my work in improving health care in Oregon. As health care costs continue to rise more and more Oregonians find themselves unable to pay for necessary medical care. My hope is the Legislature will be able to craft a plan that is sustainable, reasonable, affordable and palatable to Oregonians while still conforming to the principles of good government,” Richardson stated.
Richardson has extensive experience with health care issues. He has previously served on the Oregon Health Plan Task Force, as Chair of DHS Review Task Force, Chair of the Emergency Board Subcommittee on Human Services, Chair of the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Human Services and Chair of the Budget Subcommittee on Human Services and Public Safety. Additionally, Richardson has also worked closely with the Senate Commission on Health Care Access and Affordability during the interim.
As a small town lawyer, Richardson’s legal background will benefit his service on the House Consumer Protection Committee.
Richardson will also serve as the Republican Whip during the 2007-2009 Legislative Session.
